  • Rotating through the in-patient service has exposed me to a wide variety of GI pathologies ranging from GI bleeding, hepatitis, foreign body ingestion, PEG tube placements. These encounters have encouraged me to read on the cases encountered daily in order to facilitate knowledge retention.
  • Practiced near-daily scoping procedures in the endoscopy suite to become proficient in endoscopy and colonoscopy.
  • Assisted in optimizing workflow efficiency by spearheading a QI project in paracentesis to streamline efficiency in delivering patient care. Furthermore, I've created helpful powerpoint guides to assist future GI fellows with commonly-asked questions.
  • Rotated through multiple hospitals including Sibley hospital for hepatology, the VA medical center, and Kaiser hospital to expose me to a fuller spectrum of GI pathologies.

· Typical work week involved working 6 days a week for a minimum of 10-12 hours daily, mainly rotating through the general inpatient internal medicine floor, intensive care unit, cardiac critical care unit, overnight shifts on the general medical floor, intensive care unit and the cardiac critical care unit. Furthermore, 1 week rotation through the ambulatory care unit every 5th week.

· Tasks included, but were not limited to: working efficiently to obtain detailed yet focused histories, conducting thorough physical examinations, ordering and interpreting relevant diagnostic laboratory tests and appropriate imaging while being supervised by senior residents, fellows and attending physicians.

· Interacted respectfully and professionally with team members from all specialties, including, but not limited to: Residents, fellows, attending physicians, registered nurses, patient care assistants, telemetry technicians, transport technicians, clerks, operators, and hospital police.

· Performed above average consistently in monthly system-specific exams as well as in the annual in-service exams (Residency In-Training exam)

During my free time, i enjoy going to the gym to stay physically active and to de-stress after a long day. I also enjoy riding my bicycle when the weather permits.

Once I'm home, i will practice playing on my ocarina
