My routine Microbiology responsibilities include, reading routine cultures, Mycology, MRSA screening using Chromagar and Cepheid PCR for MRSA and Clostridium Difficile, Blood cultures using the Bactec System, and identification using Phoenix and epicenter computer. Serology responsibilities include RPR testing, H. Pylori testing along with Influenza by Cepheid PCR.
Experience with Evolis instrument testing for HIV, ANA, Vitamin D, and Quantiferon TB Gold. Routine Microbiology also includes quality control and maintenance of equipment, media, rapid and identification test kits and procedures.
I am responsible for inventory in the Microbiology laboratory. These responsibilities include, set up and implementation of the GIP inventory system, setting up standing orders quarterly and yearly, weekly inventory including refrigerated and storeroom items, and set up of new items in the GIP system (vendor information and pricing).
