woodworking and tree identification

I grew up learning tree identification from my father and grandfathers. I was chosen in high school to attend the NRCC to learn and hone skills in forestry and conservation. Learning to measure timber in high school lead to employment with Maryland State Department of Agriculture/ Weights & Measures Section and from there transferred to the Maryland State Police to complete my career in State Employment. After retirement my experience in wood identification led to a special project of assisting to build security at the White House complex after 9-11. Trained in various techniques to provide problem solving and equity between buyer and seller in the market place. Owned an operated a sawmill for 15 years. Still enjoy making the most from trees and forest products to avoid waste. Appreciate fine quality made furniture from wood products. Enjoy teaching others about conservation of our forests and sustainability to provide a quality environment for future generations.
