Worked under general supervision, performing skilled park/general maintenance work involving considerable responsibility, complexity, and variety which includes operating chainsaws, chippers, power pruners, bobcats, bucket trucks, heavy equipment to remove snow, hauling materials and equipment, and operate complex equipment and vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating requiring a CDL. Constructs shoring, lays water and sewer pipes, cuts pipes to specific measurements, and connects replacement pipes with specialized clamps and couplings as instructed. Receives instruction and learns to drive a dump truck with a trailer that is used for hauling a backhoe, and how to operate a front-end loader. Operates a variety of power equipment and hand tools to include chain saws, pipe saws, jackhammers, picks, shovel, and rakes in a safe manner as instructed. Receives instructions on the repair and maintenance of gravity and pressure mains and connections, grinder pumps, septic tanks, and pumping stations.
Performed emergency and scheduled work which may include assisting in shutting off mains; cleaning catch basins; raising and lowering manholes; bringing clean outs and other assets to grade; constructing and installing manholes and clean outs. Distributes and serves appropriate notifications to customers including, but not limited to, service interruptions, water shut offs, no parking signs, and other verbal and written communications, as applicable.
