Work History

Various Positions

Kent Manor Inn
2000 - 2015

I began working at the Inn when I was in high school. I started off as a banquet server. In this position I would work as a waitress as well as a bus person for events, mainly weddings. This position would require me to be on my feet all day, greet and serve guests as well as cleaning up the location once the event was over.

Several years later I moved on to be a banquet prep cook. In this position I would help prepare the menus and all of the food that was needed for weddings or events that took place at the Inn. After this I moved on to being just a prep cook, and I would help prepare food for anything that was going on at the Inn. The positions of banquet prep and prep cook require you to be focused as well as able to juggle completing multiple things at once. Organization and time management are crucial to these roles.

I didn't work at the Inn continuously from 2000 until 2015. There were breaks where I either moved or was working other jobs. There were also times when I was working full time at the Inn as well as holding down a full-time position somewhere else.

Multiple Positions

Kmart, Sears Holding
2003 - 12.2015

I began working at Kmart once I graduated high school. I started in the position of cashier. In this position I would ring up customers purchases, take payments from them and return any change they received.

After a little while I moved onto the position of working in the one hour photo lab. In this position I would handle customers rolls of film. I would process the film in the photo machines and print out pictures from them. This position required me to juggle my time so that I was about to get the most amount of film developed, properly, in the quickest amount of time for a fast turn around for customers. This position also required me to work with chemicals that I needed to add to the machine in order to process the film.

Several years later I moved on to become a department lead. As department lead you were in charge of your area. This meant that you were the one to keep it clean, organized, and stocked.

After I was a department lead I moved on to the pricing department. In this position it was my responsibility to check the company systems for any price changes that came down and then to implement them in the correct area of the store. A wrong price could mean that a customer was charged too much or not enough for an item and that would hurt the company profit. Being detail-oriented in this position is very important.

Once I was finished working with pricing I moved on to being the lead reset associate. In this position it was my job to make sure that all of the products in the store were presented to the customers in the way that company wanted them to be. To do this I have to follow specific blueprints about how the merchandise was to be placed onto the shelves. Often times this meant moving entire aisles to another part of the store, so being organized and highly detail-oriented was very important in this position.

As with the Inn, I did not work at this job consecutively. I moved away for a few months in 2007. I held this job until the day before I gave birth to my first son.

Photographer

The Picture People
2007 - 2007

The position of photographer at the portrait studio came with many responsibilities. During normal hours I would run the entire studio by myself. This meant that I was responsible for the setting up of the camera, taking the pictures of the clients, showing the clients their pictures and then putting together a picture package for them. During busier times (Christmas), these jobs became enhanced. Time management was crucial so that other customers weren't left waiting for too long to get their pictures taken. Being a photographer required me to be able to converse with people and to work with fidgety children in order to get them to sit still to take a decent picture.

Stockroom Attendant

American Eagle Outfitters

As a stockroom attendant it was my duty to make sure that the stockroom was kept neat and organized. Putting away new merchandise, so that other works would be able to easily find something that they were looking for, was top priority.
