Assistant Manager

Skate Zone
10.2022 - Current

As an assistant manager, I am required to excel in every position we have. These positions include Skate Rental, Cafe, Cook, DJ, Party Server, Greeter, Floor Guard, and Stuff Shop. In the Skate Rental position, I am in charge of exchanging one of the customers' shoes for a pair of skates. I am also in charge of cleaning the bathrooms in between and at the end of sessions. They are cleaned with toilet cleaner, disinfectant, Windex, and floor cleaner with a mop. As Cafe, I am in charge of welcoming customers, advertising our menu, taking food orders, printing out the receipt with their name, and then informing them of their wait time for the food to ensure a quick and efficient process. As a Cook, I am in charge of making pizza items (which include pizzas, flatbreads, and breadsticks) when we have parties.

I am responsible for leading my cafe staff to cook their food so it is ready for them by the scheduled time their party is set to start. I am solely responsible for making sure their pizzas are made when the party begins, and I am also responsible for monitoring the food we keep in our warmer throughout the session to ensure that we always have enough to keep the line flowing and the customer wait times at a minimum. When sessions are coming to an end, I am responsible for guiding my cafe staff to get a head start on cleaning up and making sure that they are cleaning in between sessions as well, so that the customers coming in see a clean facility. I am also responsible for deep cleaning the kitchen once a week on Mondays, where we would clean spots that we did not and could not clean during regular sessions. As a DJ, I am responsible for playing kid-appropriate music, making announcements to promote the business, and playing games. When I play games, it's my responsibility to inform the crowd of the upcoming game, explain the rules to everyone over our microphone, and then play the game. As a party server, I am responsible for being very punctual with my parties. I always make sure to greet the party parents and child with a smile and introduce myself, then explain how our parties play out and how the rules with the birthday guests work, so that there is never any confusion throughout the party. I also make sure that everything is done on time. I communicate with the cook to make sure that my food is ready, and I run the party smoothly to ensure the next party is set up during my 30-minute downtime between parties. As a Greeter, I check parties in, since I'm the first face they see It's crucial I greet them with a smile and explain everything they need to know about their party server, how the party will play out, and give them crystal clear directions on where they need to go for their party. I also collect decorations or cakes they may have, so they don't have to worry about setting anything up, because that will all be taken care of by their server. As a floor guard, I'm in charge of enforcing rules on the floor, such as no food and drinks, no candy or gum, keeping traffic flowing on the rink floor, helping customers when they fall or get injured, and setting up games if the DJ tells me to. As stuffshop, I am in charge of taking customers' game cards from the arcade area and scanning them so that they can redeem their tickets for prizes, and putting whatever they redeemed in our system so that we know that item was sold. As an assistant manager, I'm in charge of always keeping the staff in line to ensure that the session and clean-up move seamlessly. I engage with customers, promoting new events or deals we might have. I break staff to save payroll. If needed, I can run a session, whether it be private or public, so that my manager on duty can have a quick break. Lastly, I have trained staff in the cafe position and cook position to ensure they know exactly how we run our kitchen and are prepared for their next shift.
