Recent graduate with foundational knowledge in Nursing and hands-on experience gained through academic projects, simulations and clinical rotations. Demonstrates strong teamwork, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Prepared to start nursing career and make meaningful contributions with commitment and drive.
1st semester: I was placed on a Traumatic Brain Injury Unit at the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Institute. Since it was my first clinical rotation, I was only allowed to observe and shadow the nurses.
2nd semester: For my Med-Surg Clinical, I was placed on the Multi-Trauma IMC at University of Maryland Medical Center. I was assigned my own patient by my clinical instructor on a weekly basis. My responsibilities included; helping my patients complete their Activities of Daily Living, performing assessments on my patients, medication administration and documenting my patient care and progress. I completed my responsibilities under the supervision of my clinical instructor. My second clinical rotation for the semester was at Food and Care for All, a food pantry in Howard County that serves immigrant families and the underserved population of the county. I assisted the people who came to the pantry in making healthy food choices and provided some patient education on certain topics such as blood pressure and diabetes under the supervision of my clinical instructor.
3rd semester: My pediatric rotation was on the Pediatric Progressive Care Unit at University of Maryland Medical Center. I was assigned a patient every week and I provided them care. Some of my duties included but not limited to; depending on the age of my patients, I assisted or completed their activities of daily living for them. I also administered medications, performed assessments and documented my patients care and progress under the supervision of my clinical instructor.
The first portion of my Reproductive Health rotation was on the Labor and Delivery Unit at University of Maryland Medical Center. I mainly provided non-pharmacological comfort measures for patients in labor and observed births. On the Mother Baby Unit, I assessed both mothers and babies and provided some patient teaching on safe sleeping methods. I also administered feedings and medications to some of the babies under the supervision of my instructor.
My psychiatric clinical rotation was at University of Maryland Medical Center-Midtown Campus. At this institution, I was only allowed to observe but I also made sure to talk with the patients and interact with them either through games or other group activities on the unit. I and another classmate planned and conducted a group activity on the unit that focused on exercise.
4th semester: I and some classmates along with our clinical instructor, conducted a blood pressure screening at the Enoch Pratt in Baltimore. I had the chance to provide patient education and resources on how to check their blood pressure. I completed my senior practicum at Georgetown Day School in Washington DC. At the school, I assisted the school nurse in caring for sick and injured students as well as staff members.
