My name is Salim Ruffin II, and I’m a 21-year-old who is currently a junior at Salisbury University, majoring in Public Health. I was raised in Harford County, Maryland—specifically in Joppa—and graduated from Harford Technical and Vocational High School in Bel Air, where I studied welding under William Fuentes, a certified welding instructor for Harford County Public Schools, who is now teaching at Harford Community College. I’m the eldest of three brothers, a role that has shaped much of who I am today. After completing my undergraduate studies, I plan to pursue both a Juris Doctor (JD) and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from accredited programs here in the United States, ideally in Maryland. With the intent of becoming a public health attorney.
Love to play soccer and wrestle. I wrestled in the weight class 285 my senior year of high school. I currently play Rugby for Salisbury University, Men’s Club Rugby. As a prop. This will be my third season playing Rugby., I’ve been a fan of music since 4th grade of Riverside Elementary School. Playing the flute for 2 years, Bassoon from 6th grade to 12th grade, and Percussion (Auxiliary) from 9th-12th grade during marching season.
I present myself as a quiet yet diligent individual. I prioritize completing my responsibilities before engaging in extracurricular activities, as this allows me to participate fully and without the distraction of pending work. I'm actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America as a member of Troop 978, earning the rank of Eagle Scout on January 25, 2022—an achievement that reflects my commitment, discipline, and service to others. I was my Troop’s Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Assistant Patrol Leader, and Historian throughout the years serving my Troop and my community. From 2009-2015 in Cub Scouts, to Boy Scouts from 2015-2022, to obtaining my Eagle Scout rank in 2022 at 18 years of age.
