  • I was one of 7 Super Users chosen to learn the Invision system which would replace the CERNER system for all of Patient Access which connected our facility to the entire MedStar network. During the change over, I was also chosen to learn the IDX system which is used at doctor’s offices and Express Care throughout the MedStar network. This allowed me to become the “go to” person for these areas in correcting or communicating concerns.

  • Being chosen for this position gave me the opportunity to learn a new computer system from the ground up and to assist in creating a system that was user friendly for all Patient Access associates. I created the Patient Access CERNER training manual and taught all Patient Access Associates on how to use the new system, creating competencies to assure proper training. I was called upon to train new hires for this system from 2008 to 2015. This covered both Patient Access and other departments in the hospital.

I am well versed in CPT and ICD-9 codes. Holding the position of Surgical Verification specialist, I was also trained for inpatient and outpatient Insurance Verification Specialist positions and often called upon to assist when needed. Often pulled from verification to assist in the Emergency Room as well.
