Multiple Awards for Valor to include the "Bronze" Medal of Valor. A multitude of Unit Citations
I received one of our departments highest awards, the "Bronze" Medal of Valor for saving the life of a suicidal woman armed with a large butchers knife, threatening not only herself, but the lives of several officers, to include mine. After producing the knife, she began to perform "self-mutilation" as we were trying to defuse the situation. I was able to calm her down, by appealing to her humanity and the long term welfare of not only herself, but her children. The incident ended without her being harmed and with her dropping the knife and hugging and thanking me.
